Handanger Kits, Design and Book

Hardanger embroidery is a hand technique originating from Norway. It involves satin stitch, cut and drawn threads and woven bars done on evenweave fabric to produce a textured yet airy effect that is unique. Built up in simple steps, it is much easier than the final elaborate effect would suggest!
Unless specified otherwise, KITS are worked in traditional ecru colour and contain: Zweigart 18-count Davosa fabric, Anchor perle embroidery thread, detailed stitching chart, order of working, illustrated instructions for the stitches used, helpful tips, needle and colour photograph of a worked example.
CUSHION KITS also contain extra thread for making a matching cord, a zip and plain, 100% cotton fabric (colour choice: beige, bright red, creamy white, dark terracotta, emerald green, fuchsia, light terracotta, magenta, pale blue, pale pink, wine) for underlaying the front to highlight open work and to back the cushion.
CARD KITS also contain a cream card blank approx. 13 cm x 13 cm (5 in x 5 in) with a square aperture approx. 7 cm x 7 cm (3 in x 3 in), an envelope and a suitable coloured underlay. Ideal as an inexpensive try at Hardanger or as a small gift.
